Overview

 

Jenkins Lumber and Hardware, Alpine WY, is seeking a Paint Store Associate to joing our team of quailty employees.  The primary function of this position is to provide excellent customer service and knowledgeable sales assistance to retail customers / homeowners, in choosing products to fit their painting needs, mixing paint, matching paint samples, processing purchases at the counter, over the phone, in a timely fashion, and keeping customers informed during the process, ordering, delivery etc., observing all safety regulations, ensuring all quality standards are met and safe, courteous and professional behavior is observed in all situations.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • At the start of the shift open store, check schedule, attend meetings and appointments.
  • Provide excellent customer service and knowledgeable sales assistance to builders, contractors and homeowners, assisting them in choosing painting products to fit their needs.
  • Mixing paint and matching paint samples for customers.
  • Perform research to determine reasons for inventory variances, make adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Participate in direct cycle count process, track customer orders, and handle/count cash received at end of shift.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers and follow up on outstanding special orders.
  • Maintain sales floor, perform light cleaning of the retail floor area.
  • Keep work area and storage areas clear, clean and organized, complete other related duties as assigned / directed by the Supervisor.
  • At end of shift, perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work every other Saturday (between May-November)
  • Must read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools, and perform all job functions safely.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must participate in company orientation and training.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Must pass background check, drug screen and physical exam.
  • Must be able to accurately mix paint.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Must be able to work as a team and follow instructions.

 

Specific Job Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Must have High School diploma or proof of G.E.D.
  • (2-3) years’ experience in working with paint preferred, or the combination of education, experience, training to successfully complete the job tasks.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communicative skills.
  • Must have basic math / calculations/ technology skills.
  • Must be computer literate and be able learn any company software system.
  • Must maintain the physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • Must have the ability to respond to inquiries and work calmly and effectively under any conditions.
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, work with purpose and appropriate level of urgency.
