Overview

The primary function of this position is to promptly, professionally and safely drive Flatbed Tractor Trailers Trucks to customer locations to

deliver and unload lumber products, building materials and supplies to customer's / location / jobsite, in a timely manner, observing all safety regulations, ensuring all quality standards are met and safe, courteous and professional behavior is observed in all situations.

 

Essential Functions 

  • At the start of the shift check schedule, attend all required meetings, training and / or appointments.
  • Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear and ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly.
  • Perform routine and daily safety checks on equipment and trucks.
  • Check in with dispatch for special instruction, complete necessary paperwork, and refuel trucks when needed.
  • Load lumber and building materials, products, and supplies onto trailers, check and verify against “load ticket” for accuracy.
  • Properly secure materials on truck / trailer for delivery.
  • Drive Flatbed Tractor Trailers with Moffet to deliver lumber and building materials, products, and supplies to customers’ / job sites.
  • Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear as required by the job site when making deliveries.
  • Unload lumber products, materials and supplies to customers, as required, by hand, or operate Moffett equipment on site, while observing all safety procedures and practices.
  • Pick-up customer returns, stack/ securely strap and get appropriate signatures and turn paperwork into dispatch.
  • Any damage to material or property during delivery is to be reported immediately to the yard manager.
  • Maintain company trucks / trailers, equipment, keep vehicle clean inside and out to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records on assigned company vehicle.
  • Make daily inspections of assigned truck for fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, etc. and report any issues immediately to yard manager.
  • Keep the work area and storage areas clear, clean and organized, complete other related duties as assigned or directed by the Supervisor.
  • At the end of shift, perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.
  • Complete accurate daily truck logs.

General Job Requirements

  • Must read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools, and perform all job functions safely.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must participate in company orientation and training.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Responsible for proper securement of all loads. You must be fully knowledgeable in loading procedures for various delivery conditions and to prevent total or axle overloads in accordance with FMCSA requirements.
  • Must be able to work as a team and follow instructions.
  • Have knowledge of all materials, location of inventory, and follow proper storage and handling of products.

 Specific Job Skills and Qualifications

  • 3) years’ experience in commercial truck driving is preferred
  • or the combination of education, experience, training to successfully complete the job.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class A (CDL) State Driver’s License appropriate to the equipment.
  • Must pass company background check for safe driving, maintain a good vehicle safety record and pass mandatory DOT screening.
  • Must complete Forklift / LOTO training and obtain certificate.
  • Must accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.
  • Must have the ability to respond to inquiries and work calmly and effectively under any conditions.
  • Must effectively communicate with all co-workers and customers.
  • Must maintain the physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • For all tools, machinery, equipment or vehicles for which you have been authorized and assigned to use, it is your responsibility to report deficiencies and unsafe conditions.
